SCOTT — The Acadiana Wrecking Rams woke up Monday figuring they would travel to Bonnabel in the second round of the LHSAA Division I Boys Soccer playoffs. By the time they got to practice in the afternoon, however, they discovered the foe would be St. Amant, and that they would be home for a second game in a row.

Coach Jan Richard's 7th-seeded Rams sloshed their way past Central, 4-0, on Saturday, one day after No. 23 Bonnabel topped No. 10 St. Amant 3-1. But Bonnabel used an ineligible player and the win was reversed. Now, Acadiana will host St. Amant at 6 p.m. on Thursday for a shot at the state quarterfinals. "I didn't hear from them all weekend, so I called the school (Bonnabel) this morning to find out some details about the game," Richard said. "The school secretary told me that game won't be played.

"They self-reported an infraction. She said she was on the phone with (commissioner) Kenny Henderson when I called. So, St. Amant gets the victory." Richard saw the game in question, and knows what to expect. "St. Amant is a fairly direct team," he said. "They have two pretty good goal strikers up top. One has 33 goals, the other has 20, so they score through them. They're the 10th-ranked team, and I assume they'll be pumped up to play the game."

That's definitely true for the Rams, staying home for another round. "We're excited to have one more home game," Richard said. "We were going to be ready to go to Bonnabel, too. We take a 'one game at a time' approach. We treated the Barbe game (regular-season finale) as our first playoff game, and I thought we played well.
